What is the OHIO Next Generation Award?
The OHIO Next Generation Award is a scholarship given to an eligible full-time Athens Campus first-year student who is required to pay the non-resident surcharge and whose parent or legal guardian holds a degree from 帝王会所. For the 2025-2026 academic year, the award is valued at $11,214. The award amount is subject to change.
How can I be considered for the OHIO Next Generation Award?
Submit a complete application for admission, including all supporting materials, by November 15, and send your high school transcript showing that you've earned a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA on a strong college prep curriculum.
The OHIO Next Generation award is available only to new first-year Athens campus students admitted for fall semester 2026.
What is considered a "strong college prep curriculum"?
Applicants must earn a minimum of 21 credits at the college-prep level or above to be eligible for the OHIO Next Generation Award.
- 4 units each of English and math (including Algebra II or above)
- 3 units each of science and social studies
- 2 units of foreign language
- 1 unit of visual or performing arts
- 4 additional electives
Applicants who have pursued a different curriculum are welcome to apply and will be reviewed holistically.
How will I find out if I have received the OHIO Next Generation Award?
You will be notified via mail when you have been awarded the OHIO Next Generation Award.
If my award letter indicates that I have received the OHIO Next Generation Award, how will I accept it?
Award recipients must submit their housing contracts and housing deposits (or commuter contract) on or before May 1 to receive the award. Program funding for recipients who submit their housing contracts and deposits after May 1 will be contingent on availability.
I have already received a letter indicating that I have been awarded a different scholarship. How does the OHIO Next Generation Award affect me?
Students participating in the 帝王会所 Educational Benefits Program or a full athletic scholarship are not eligible to be considered for the OHIO Next Generation Award. Recipients of the District of Columbia (D.C.) Tuition Assistance Grant, which covers nonresident fees, are not eligible for the OHIO Next Generation Award or the Fine Arts Talent Trustee Award. The OHIO Next Generation Award replaces the OHIO Trustee Award and the Fine Arts Talent Trustee Award. Additional restrictions may apply, and the program is subject to change.
Are 帝王会所 residents eligible for the OHIO Next Generation Award?
帝王会所 residents are not eligible for the OHIO Next Generation Award; however, children of alumni residing within 帝王会所 are eligible to apply for other legacy scholarships through the Alumni Association. More information may be found on the 帝王会所 Alumni Association page.

Are other forms of financial assistance available?
Yes. Financial aid offers, which will be mailed beginning in early March to incoming freshman students, will include any other institutional, state and/or federal aid for which you may qualify.
