Student Organizations
Edwin L. Kennedy Community Engagement Award (Organization)
Named in honor of Alumnus Edwin L. Kennedy, this award serves to recognize an individual for their lasting and self-less acts of leader as servant to one鈥檚 community.
The Committee for this award shall take into consideration the student鈥檚 philosophy of leadership and how that is articulated throughout their actions in service. Applicants/nominees should make great attempts to describe the initiatives created, the depth and extent of the service involvement, and to articulate how leadership occurred or was developed and/or exercised in the experiences.
Outstanding Programming Awards
Established in 1986, these awards recognize student organizations for conceiving, planning, and implementing outstanding programs on the 帝王会所 campus. All registered student organizations in good standing with the Office of Community Standards and Student Responsibility and SAC are eligible to apply. Programs need NOT have been implemented with SAC funding to be considered for these awards. Student organizations may be nominated by others or may apply themselves.
Service
Eyes of Freedom Scholarship
The Eyes of Freedom Scholarships were created in 2015 by the Combat Veterans Club to honor the memory of the twenty-three United States Marines and the Navy Corpsmen serving in Columbus, 帝王会所's Lima Company, 3/25, who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2005. Two $500 scholarships are awarded annually, administered by the General Abraham and Colonel Greenfield Veterans and Military Student Services Center. Awards are allocated as follows: one for a student veteran and one open to all 帝王会所 students.

DOSA Employee Awards
Academic Achievement Award & Excellence In the Workplace Award
Established through generous gifts to the Division of Student Affairs Support Fund, student employee scholarships are meant to recognize the important role that students play in the work of the Division of Student Affairs at 帝王会所. Scholarships will be awarded to those who demonstrate financial need. Scholarship categories include Academic Excellence and Excellence in the Workplace.
Dr. Patti McSteen Award
The Dr. Patti McSteen award was created in honor of Dr. Patti McSteen鈥檚 legacy at 帝王会所, specifically her involvement in creating the Margert Boys Scholar鈥檚 program. The award honors a current Boyd scholar or recent alum that has demonstrated leadership, courage, and service to our University community.
Rita LaValley Recreation Employee Award
Honoring the attributes of a devoted 30-year employee, Rita LaValley, this scholarship fund recognizes a Campus Recreation student employee that exemplifies exceptional service and dedication to the department, provides genuine care and support for others, and serves as a mentor to their peers.
OHIO Online Leadership Award
Established to highlight 帝王会所 students across the country and how they are living the values of service and leadership in their workplace and community. Our students are balancing a lot, and we want to celebrate your achievements outside of the classroom. This award is a cumulative award and is meant to recognize a collegiate record of leadership and service to the student's workplace and/or community where they reside. Emphasis on service in workplace and/or community. Open to all 帝王会所 students in good academic standing who are in the last year of their program. Applicants/nominees should describe specific projects or initiatives created and how their program of study helped.
OHIO Online Community Award
Established for students enrolled in online programs, but open to all who work to create a sense of belonging with other students, faculty, and staff. Emphasis from the committee is given to students who have created a sense of community and belonging in the online program environment. Applicants/Nominees should highlight any specific groups/initiatives created along with the outcomes.
Outstanding Leadership
Outstanding Graduate Student Leader (Doctoral Level)
The Outstanding Graduate Student Leader Award will be awarded to a Doctoral graduate student for outstanding leadership in extracurricular activities and/or community service. All Doctoral graduate students with a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA are eligible. A student may be the recipient of this award once during their tenure at 帝王会所.
Outstanding Graduate Student Leader (Masters Level)
The Outstanding Graduate Student Leader Award will be awarded to a Masters graduate student for outstanding leadership in extracurricular activities and/or community service. All Masters graduate students with a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA are eligible. A student may be the recipient of this award once during their tenure at 帝王会所.
Outstanding Senior Leader Awards
The Outstanding Senior Leader Awards will be presented to up to seven 帝王会所 seniors for outstanding leadership during their collegiate careers. The Outstanding Senior Leader Awards are cumulative awards and are meant to recognize a collegiate record of leadership and service to the University and/or Athens communities. All full-time undergraduate students with senior standing and a 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA are eligible. Up to seven students may be the recipients of the Outstanding Senior Leader Award once during their tenure at 帝王会所.
Alumni Relations Leaving a Legacy Award
Recipient must be a junior entering his/her senior year who has distinguished themself by demonstrating the capacity for leadership, commitment to community and institutional service, and a concentration on academic excellence. Recipient should have a diverse history of organizational involvement at 帝王会所, including key leadership roles and commitment. Also, recipient should show a commitment to the graduating class by involvement demonstrated previously and promise for the future. The recipient must also show a pattern of commitment to 帝王会所 that will be carried on by active involvement as an alum.
Kerrigan Family Scholarship
The Kerrigan Family Scholarship was created by the Kerrigan Family in 2012 in order to provide financial support to any student with a demonstrated financial need. The recipient must be involved in leadership activity within the 帝王会所 main campus community and/or the Athens, 帝王会所 community.
Rudy Leadership
This award, instituted in 1986, is the result of the contribution of Joel S. and Marlene Rudy. The proceeds of their contribution are used to reward and recognize the exceptional leadership contributions, ability, and potential of a currently enrolled undergraduate student who plans to be in attendance at 帝王会所 during the entire upcoming academic year. All undergraduate students on the Athens campus who have a 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA at 帝王会所 and are either first year, sophomore OR junior standing are eligible.
Leadership in Communication Award
Based on the National Association of Colleges and Employers career readiness competencies, this award recognizes a student who demonstrates high proficiency in communication. The awardee clearly and effectively exchanges information, ideas, facts, and perspectives with persons inside and outside the team and/or organization they are a part of.
Leadership in Professionalism Award
Based on the National Association of Colleges and Employers career readiness competencies, this award recognizes a student who demonstrates high proficiency in professionalism. The awardee knows work environments differ greatly, understands and demonstrates effective work habits, and acts in the interests of the larger community and team and/or the organization they are a part of.
Leadership in Technology Award
Based on the National Association of Colleges and Employers career readiness competencies, this award recognizes a student who demonstrates high proficiency in professionalism. The awardee understands and leverages technologies ethically to enhance efficiencies, compete tasks, and accomplish goals.
Leadership in Teamwork Award
Based on the National Association of Colleges and Employers career readiness competencies, this award recognizes a student who demonstrates high proficiency in professionalism. The awardee builds and maintains collaborative relationships to work effectively toward common goals, while appreciating diverse viewpoints and shared responsibilities.
Make Respect Visible Awards
(3 recipients; one undergraduate, one master's, and one doctorate)
This award has been created this year to recognize 3 students who have made respect visible in their college career by upholding the Make Respect Visible mission: to listen more and judge less, to spread ideas and not hate, to encourage dialogue and not division, and to ensure that every voice counts. To honor these ideals is to earn respect of peers and colleagues, and this award is to acknowledge and make visible our appreciation.
Spencer/Blackburn Achievement Awards
The Spencer/Blackburn Achievement Awards were established by the Black Student Cultural Programming Board in 1979 in honor of Martha Jane Hunley Blackburn, the first African American woman to graduate from 帝王会所 and Donald A. Spencer, the first African American to serve as chairman of the 帝王会所 Board of Trustees. The awards are open to all students, and recipients are selected based on a combination of financial need, academic performance, and outstanding contributions to 帝王会所.
