John McCarthy, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, FNAP, is a professor of Communication Disorders and Dean of the College of Health Sciences and Professions. He teaches courses on augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), interprofessional education, pre-professional orientation, and introduction to communication disorders. His research includes improving computer interfaces and expanding the creative possibilities for children and young adults requiring AAC.
Prior to becoming dean of CHSP, McCarthy held several positions since joining OHIO in 2004, including associate dean and associate director of the Division of Communication Sciences and Disorders. He also serves as an OHIO Expert.
